RM200 monthly housing rental assistance now open for applications

KUCHING, July 21: Application for the Sarawak Rental Assistance Scheme (SRAS) offering RM200 in aid monthly for a maximum of 36 months is now open to those renting around Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) chief executive officer (CEO) Mohamad Asman Ahmad emphasised that this scheme is expected to benefit some 20,000 eligible households especially those in the lower income group who have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The SRAS provides rental assistance of RM200 monthly for a maximum of 36 months or three years.


“This scheme has been announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg under the Sarawak State Budget 2021 in November last year,” he said in a press statement today.

Renters can get more information and download the SRAS forms for free via the HDC website at http://hdc.sarawak.gov.my.

Application for SRAS is open to all Malaysian citizens especially Sarawakians aged 21 years and above.

Those who are registered under e-Kasih, with income less than RM2,131 a month, are parents or single parent households with at least one child and persons with disabilities (OKU) are also encouraged to apply.

Supporting documents required for application include proof of e-Kasih recipient, marriage or divorce certificate, copy of MyKad (applicant or couple), copy of birth certs/MyKid/MyKad of children under care, income statement of household/couple, OKU card, rental agreement, landlord agreement for renter to participate in SRAS and rented premises photo.

Completed forms must be delivered to HDC offices in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri.
