RM2 mln new access road linking Stapok Utama to Ensing Timur set to finish by Sept 15

KUCHING, July 4: The new access road project connecting Stapok Utama traffic lights near SJK(C) Chung Hua Primary School No. 6 to Ensing Timur area (near Stapok Badminton Court) is 65.74 per cent complete and is expected to be finished by Sept 15 this year.

Spanning approximately 285 metres, the road is being constructed at a cost of RM2.023 million.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian has been instrumental in planning and securing funding for this project to address growing traffic congestion in the area.

“This project is critical for (improving) both the main roads and the dispersed routes around residential areas. It aims to facilitate smoother transitions from residential areas to the main roads,” he said in a press release today.

Dr Sim, who is also Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government, stressed the importance of contractors adhering to the schedule to ensure timely benefits for the public.

Reminding the federal government to fulfill its role in enhancing Sarawak’s transportation system, he highlighted the significant road tax contributions from the people of Sarawak.

“The Sarawak government has fulfilled its responsibility by implementing numerous development projects.

“Besides the new access road, the planned Second Batu Kawa Bridge and new dual carriageway are also part of the Sarawak government’s efforts to provide better infrastructure for the people of Sarawak,” he added. — DayakDaily
