KUCHING, Dec 28: A digital innovation hub worth RM2.6 million near the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Sarawak (PBB) Satok branch service centre is expected to start construction next year and is anticipated to be completed within 12 to 15 months.
According to Satok assemblyman Dato Ibrahim Baki in a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) news report today, the hub will house a range of facilities such as conference rooms, meeting spaces, seminar halls, and several offices designed to assist the youth to venture into business.
“We have secured the necessary approvals and funding for the project. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2025 and is expected to be completed within 12 to 15 months,” he said.
He said this at the PBB Satok Branch Representative Meeting for the 2024-2027 term today.
“For youth who want to start a business, not everyone can afford to rent an office space which can cost thousands of ringgit per month, especially with the digital economy where you can work from home.
“However, sometimes you need to meet customers or business partners in a suitable place, so this place is provided with a meeting room for them to meet customers, and business partners, and establish business networks in addition to using the address as an official address,” he said.
Meanwhile, he also gave an update on the progress of Perumahan Segedup 2025/2026 with land reclamation almost complete including earthworks and drainage which are still ongoing.
“Internal road works for infrastructure are also near completion. So, maybe next year they will start infrastructure work, including piling work.
“Piling work means building construction. So, hopefully, next year the infrastructure work can start. This project may take until 2026 before we can see the structure,” he said.
He added that the first phase will develop 271 units, while the second phase will add another 200 to 250 units, bringing the total number of units to be developed to 500. — DayakDaily
