RM2.3 mln in MRP grants distributed to 160 recipients to boost Asajaya’s community programmes

KUCHING, Dec 12: Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP) Sarawak Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has distributed Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant cheques totaling RM2,394,000 to 160 recipients in the Asajaya state constituency.

The MRP grants were given to the Village Security and Development Committees (JKKK), suraus, houses of worship, Parent-Teacher Associations (PIBG), associations, clubs, nurseries, and kindergartens to carry out community programmes and activities in the Asajaya District.


According to Abdul Karim, who is also Asajaya assemblyman, this year’s allocation is the largest.

“The total amount distributed to date is as much as RM3,620,000,” he told reporters during a press conference following the MRP grant cheque presentation ceremony for N15 Asajaya state constituency held today at the Baitul Makmur II here.

He stated that it is his duty as a representative of the people to allocate MRP funds for the purpose of supporting various activities and promoting the well-being of mosques, suraus, churches, and other similar institutions.

Also present were Samarahan division deputy resident Annuar Da’an, Asajaya district officer Rais Ahmat, Samarahan division Malay community Temenggong Chek Bujang, Samarahan division Chinese community Temenggong Liew Shark Shen, Samarahan division Iban Community Temenggong Mohad @ Geoffrey Mamat Kuchai, and Asajaya district Chinese Pemanca Tze Ted. — DayakDaily
