LAWAS, March 17: After its completion in July next year, the RM157.28 million Limbang Integrated Administrative Centre (IAC) will house all State government departments and agencies in the district.
According to a news report published today by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Sarawak Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Aidel Lariwoo stated that while there was a slight delay from the original schedule, they are confident that the contractor’s ability will ensure the project is completed on time.
The project has made 5.12 per cent physical progress to date, compared to the 8.23 per cent as originally scheduled.
“I feel confident that this project will run smoothly.
“As we can see the site has been well covered and works such as filing and so on are running according to schedule so far.
“So, we feel confident that this project will be completed according to schedule in July 2023,” he said at a press conference following a visit to the IAC Limbang Division site on Tuesday.
The RM157.28 million contract was executed by Gagasan Sdn Bhd and managed by the Northern Region Public Works Department (JKR).
When completed, the Limbang Division IAC will house all government departments, including the Limbang Division’s statutory body, in one location.
Aidel added that numerous infrastructure projects throughout the State, including in Limbang, had been delayed due to a variety of factors, including the border closure, which hampered material delivery.
He went on to say that the high logistics costs in Limbang, the sharp increase in the price of building materials, and the labour shortage in Limbang all contributed to the delay of development projects.
Also present were JKR Limbang Division Assistant Engineer Mahathir Jokeni, Civil Engineer, JKR Northern Region Reynald Felton Nawin, Project Engineer, Brooke Dockyard (Second Limbang Bridge Project) Narvindran, and Freddie Sigar. — DayakDaily
