SIBU, Sept 23: Six road projects worth RM135 million are set to boost rural access and strengthen connectivity across Ngemah under the Mid-Rajang Regional Development Agency (MiRRDA), while supporting local socioeconomic development.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Ngemah assemblyman Anyi Jana said all six projects are currently at the design stage, with consultants preparing the necessary plans before implementation begins.
“The six projects involve the upgrading of the 1.2-kilometre (km) Sedaya Ferry Road, the 6km Nanga Woh/Nibong Tada Road, the 7.1km access road to the Nanga Jagau Resettlement Scheme (SPS), and 5km of internal roads within the Nanga Jagau SPS.
“Also included are the upgrading of the 6km Nibong Tada to Ulu Mapai Road and the 4km Temawai Sandung, Ulu Sungai Woh Road,” he said when officiating the MiRRDA Outreach Programme Series 4/2026 at the Kanowit District Office Hall yesterday (Sept 22).
He said the agriculture sector was also being supported through the Oil Palm Planting Assistance Programme and Livestock Assistance Programme, aimed at improving residents’ socioeconomic wellbeing.
Meanwhile, Anyi urged community leaders to be more proactive in resolving land status-related issues.
He also stressed the importance of ensuring residents’ data and information submitted to the District Office are accurate and reliable.
According to him, accurate data would enable MiRRDA to plan development projects more effectively before submitting them to its Steering Committee, comprising elected representatives from the region.
The programme also included briefings on the Oil Palm Planting Assistance Programme by Sarawak Agriculture Department representative Nicholas Jati and the Livestock Assistance Programme by Ling Embuas and Hasnul Abdullah Buyong. — DayakDaily
