PADAWAN, Aug 16: Treated water supply issues for Kampung Petag, Kampung Sitang, and Kampung Bangau will be resolved once projects costing RM129 million earmarked for these villages are completed.
Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said that the projects are scheduled to commence in the second quarter of next year.
He emphasised that the projects in these three villages fall under the purview of the Rural Water Supply Project (BALB) for Puncak Borneo Phase 2.
“The necessary funds for this project, totalling RM129 million, have already received the green light from the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW),” he said in a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today.
During a working visit to the Kampung Sitang junction yesterday (Aug 15), he elaborated on the concerted efforts by Kuching Water Board and Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) to tackle water supply challenges.
These initiatives encompass addressing issues such as low water pressure in Kampung Emperoh Jambu.
Attributing the treated water supply predicament to geographical factors, the Mambong assemblyman underscored the village’s elevated location, which has impeded the effective distribution of treated water to its residents.
“A booster pump system and water storage tank will be built in this area as part of the Puncak Borneo Area BALB Project Phase 2
“This will rectify the water pressure and ensure a consistent supply of clean water to the locality,” he added. — DayakDaily
