RM120,000 in MRP funds given to school-related bodies, groups in Mambong

KUCHING, March 16: A total of RM120,000 in Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants were disbursed to seven recipients today.

The recipients are Headmasters Council of Mambong Area, which received RM40,000, Headmasters Council of Padawan District (RM15, 000), St Catherine’s Catholic Church, Kg Bratan (RM20,000), Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) of SK St George Punau, SK St Giles Git, SK St Gregory Giam and SK Bengoh (each receiving RM10,000) and Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kg Bowang.


On hand to present the cheques at the Kg Punau community hall was Assistant Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, who is the Mambong assemblyman.

To the respective PTAs and the headmasters councils, Dr Jerip said the allocation was to facilitate educational activities for pupils and for the headmasters to improve their skills.

“Such allocation is for the purpose of improving the performance of our school children, particularly those who will sit for Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR),” Dr Jerip said.

The presentation today was part of Dr Jerip’s walkabout programme to see the progress on various projects in his constituency implemented under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).

He cited RTP projects in Kg Punau like water supply connections to houses, and concrete embankment along the river bank, which is progressing smoothly.

Dr Jerio also cited RTP projects at Kg Bowang costing RM500,000 which have been completed.

Meanwhile, Dr Jerip attended a similar programme in Siburan yesterday, where he also presented MRP grants totalling RM210,000 to five Chinese associations in the area.

He also inspect four projects in the area built at a cost of RM910,000, which have been completed. — DayakDaily
