KUCHING, Aug 17: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap is keeping tabs on projects funded through his Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) allocation to ensure they are properly implemented.
According to a statement from Yap, the upgrading and repair work on the restrooms and main village hall in Kampung Sungai Tapang for the contract sum of RM100,000 has been completed ahead of schedule.
During the final inspection, Yap requested that certain areas be repainted as the work was not done properly.
Yap also visited Kampung Sungai Tapang with officers from Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), the implementing agency, to conduct a final inspection after the appointed contractor, Syarikat Pembinaan Sampun Maju, notified that the upgrading and repair works had been completed.
He expressed gratitude to Public Works Department (JKR) and the appointed contractor for successfully completing the repair and upgrading works ahead of schedule.
“The repair and upgrading works of the village hall in Kampung Sungai Tapang were undertaken because the hall was in an unsatisfactory condition.
“The villagers frequently use the hall to organise important and meaningful activities, as well as cultural programmes.”
The villagers had earlier approached Yap through their village head, Tuai Rumah Luha Bunggom, to request for his assistance for funding to carry out the repair and upgrading works which was long overdue as no repair and upgrading works on the village hall had been carried out for the last 15 years.
The statement also revealed that Yap has received numerous requests for assistance concerning poor infrastructure in N12 Kota Sentosa which needs to be resolved and he is committed to securing more government funding to address the poor infrastructure issues in his constituency systematically.
He appealed to the public for their patience and understanding in order to resolve all the poor infrastructure problems, some of which have not been resolved for the last 15 years. — DayakDaily
