KUCHING, May 7: Long-standing parking issues at Lorong 17A, Stampin Resettlement Scheme have been resolved following the completion of a RM100,000 parking upgrade under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) 2025 beside the community hall, bringing improved convenience, safety and order for residents.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap said the issue had been repeatedly raised by residents over the years, prompting its prioritisation under the RTP 2025 initiative.
“With the completion of this project, parking is now more organised and safer. It also improves accessibility to the community hall and helps ease traffic congestion during community activities,” he said in a statement today.
He noted that the area previously suffered from limited parking spaces, which often led to double parking and roadside parking during events such as weddings, funerals and community meetings, resulting in congestion and inconvenience to other road users.
Yap added that even small-scale infrastructure upgrades can deliver meaningful improvements to residents’ daily comfort and quality of life.
He also expressed appreciation to Kuching South City Council (MBKS) officers, community leaders and residents for their cooperation and support throughout the implementation of the project.
Yap reiterated his commitment to continuing efforts to address community concerns through practical, people-centric development initiatives in Kota Sentosa. — DayakDaily
