Up to RM10,000 in aid for entrepreneurs to buy digital equipment under Go Digital Sarawak

LIMBANG, March 24: Go Digital Sarawak offers up to RM10,000 in assistance for the purchase of digital equipment and necessities such as laptops, digital cameras, and drones, says Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) report, he explained that the Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (Mintred) has been entrusted by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to implement digital initiatives such as Go Digital Sarawak and Digital Marketing Sarawak.

“Entrepreneurs will be guided and monitored for 6 months as part of this programme (Go Digital Sarawak) to ensure they can use digital equipment effectively.


“Meanwhile, Digital Marketing Sarawak offers intensive training for a minimum of 6 months in order to build capacity.

“This training includes digital entrepreneurship management for start-ups as well as accredited digital entrepreneurship certification,” he said on Tuesday (March 22) at the ‘Majlis Penangguhan Kursus Pemasaran Menggunakan Website’ event at Hotel Purnama Limbang.

He went on to reveal that 32 entrepreneurs took this course to improve their online marketing skills.

The advancement of technology and the changing of the times have enabled digital technology to be widely used, including in business marketing.

Additionally, Awang Tengah stated that the use of digital economy platforms, which can help hawkers, traders, and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) expand their business, should be fully utilised.

Awang Tengah who is also the Minister for Urban Development and Natural Resources II and the Mintred Minister, stated that the government held various capacity building programmes both in person and online to assist entrepreneurs in promoting and marketing their products and services.

Mintred also provides and implements various financial assistance in the form of grants and loans such as the Small and Medium Industries Local Scheme, Graduates Towards Entrepreneurship (Gerak), Technical and Vocational Entrepreneurs (USTEV), Sarawak Micro Credit Scheme (SKMS), and Bantuan Sarawakku Sayang SME 2.0 Special Relief Fund (SRF).
