KUCHING, Jan 26: The tender for the highly anticipated RM100 million mile-long boulevard development project in Kota Samarahan, aimed at enhancing the well-being of its residents, is set to be released later this year, as disclosed by Majlis Perbandaran Kota Samarahan (MPKS) chairman Dato Peter Minos.

Minos revealed that this extensive boulevard project, considered the longest and largest in Kota Samarahan’s development plan, will feature a beautifully landscaped environment, recreational facilities, and a cultural center.

The initiative, spearheaded by MPKS, is financially supported by the Integrated Samarahan Regional Development Agency (IRDSA) and endorsed by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“The boulevard development project is strategically located between two roads along the expressway towards Batang Sadong, positioned behind the MPKS building,” Minos informed reporters during the launch of Arden City at Ibraco Gallery at The Northbank, Kuching, today.

Minos disclosed that the initial estimated cost of the project was RM20 million. However, with the intervention of Sarawak Premier, the budget has been significantly increased to RM100 million.

“The tender, scheduled for release later this year, has already received approval, following our meeting with Sarawak Premier three weeks ago,” Minos further disclosed.

Elaborating on the project’s purpose, Minos emphasised that the boulevard aims to become a local entertainment hub, catering to visitors and families seeking leisure options during weekends.

“Sarawak Premier envisions creating convenient spaces for families on weekends and, secondly, enhancing the vibrancy of Kota Samarahan. This initiative aligns with our broader Samarahan development plan,” he stated. ā€” DayakDaily
