Deputy Premier: Wan Junaidi a seasoned leader poised to steer Sarawak’s future

KUCHING, Jan 26: Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has the experience and knowledge which qualify him to be the 8th Sarawak Governor, say Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.

When contacted today, Dr Sim, who is also Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) president, said Wan Junaidi has vast experience especially in term of Sarawak’s nation building.

According to him, Wan Junaidi has been involved in the negotiations between the Sarawak government and Federal government to reclaim Sarawak’s rights under Malaysia Agreement 1963.


“Among others, he is also involved in Sarawak’s bid in health and education autonomy including special grants for Sarawak under Article 112D of the Federal Constitution and one-third parliamentary seats for Sabah and Sarawak,” he said.

Meanwhile SUPP Secretary General Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew said they are confident that Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar’s tenure as Sarawak Governor will bring about positive changes as well as contribute to the prosperity and well-being of Sarawak.

He said Wan Junaidi’s commitment to public service and dedication to the betterment of community have not gone unnoticed, and it is with great joy and pride that everyone has learned of his new role.

“Tun Dr Wan Junaidi was appointed the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak by Article 1 of the Sarawak Constitution for four years, effective Jan 26, 2024, until Jan 26, 2028.

“His leadership qualities, vision, and tireless efforts have consistently demonstrated his ability to make a positive impact on the people and nation as he carried out his public duties with great responsibility, diligence and grace,” he added. — DayakDaily
