KUCHING, July 19: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Youth Central will be organising a ‘722 Count the Bees Contest’ in conjunction with the celebration of Sarawak Independence Day this year.
According to a media release today, the contest starts on July 21 and runs until Aug 1.
Open to all Malaysians residing in Sarawak, participants are required to count the number of bees on the SUPP 60th Anniversary billboard displayed in front of the party headquarters at Jalan Tan Sri Ong Kee Hui, here.
Participants also need to complete a slogan ‘I love Sarawak, because …’, and submit their entries to “SUPP Youth Central” official Facebook page.
Sixty winners will be selected to win a cash prize of RM100 each.
SUPP Youth Arts and Culture Bureau chief, Albert Tay, said the contest was to inspire and enhance the spirit of patriotism among the people.
“It is reflected in the spirit of cooperation and solidarity among the ‘little bees’ in defending the rights of the Sarawakians.
“We urge the public to join in the fun, by counting the bees as we commemorate July 22, which is the day Sarawak was granted self-governance by the British,” he continued.
The public can find out more information about the contest by visiting its official Facebook page.
Winners will be announced on the Facebook page, as well as being notified through Facebook messenger by Aug 8. — DayakDaily
