KUCHING, Sept 29: The RM10 million Pesisir Sadong Jaya Road will take centre stage as the main route for the second edition of the Sadong Jaya Coastal Run 2026 on Oct 3.
Speaking at a press conference at the Sadong Jaya Community House today, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Aidel Lariwoo said the event aims to promote healthy living while showcasing the town’s heritage and culture to outside visitors.
“We want participants who come to Sadong Jaya not only to run, but also to get to know our area, see the atmosphere of the Heritage Town and experience the spirit of the Sadong Jaya community,” he said, as reported by TVS.
He also urged runners and residents to keep the route spotless.
“We want participants and the community to work together to ensure the area along the route is always clean.
“This is important because we not only want to organise a lively event, but also want to leave a positive impact on the area and the community,” he added.
The run is expected to draw 1,100 participants—807 from the local community and schools, and 293 from across Sarawak, including divisions as far as Limbang.
The event features three categories flagging off in staggered start times:
- 10km: Starts at 6:30 a.m. (174 runners)
- 5km: Starts at 6:45 a.m. (334 runners)
