KUCHING, Feb 20: A charging fee has been implemented by Sarawak Energy Berhad (Sarawak Energy) starting today for the high-powered electric vehicle (EV) fast charger at the DCFC (Direct Current Fast Charging) station at Icom Square, Jalan Pending here.

Sarawak Energy announced in a Facebook post yesterday (Feb 19) that the 180kW and 50kW DC chargers at Icom Square are now priced at RM1.40 per kWh.

“Thank you for your continued support. We remain committed to providing reliable and efficient charging services for your electric vehicles.

“If you face any technical issues at the DCFC station, reach out to our Customer Support Hotline at 011-1095 2675,” read the post.

Partnering with Gentari Sdn Bhd (Gentari), the Icom Square DCFC station was established in September last year as Sarawak Energy’s inaugural EV charging hub in Sarawak, boasting the title of the fastest public DC charger in Borneo.

Gentari stated that in June 2023, the company signed a Strategic Collaboration Agreement with Sarawak Energy, which includes partnering to increase EV adoption in Sarawak through the development of a comprehensive and wide-ranging EV charging infrastructure in the State—an initiative that will be vital to promoting green mobility solutions and encouraging the shift toward low carbon transportation. — DayakDaily
