RM1.089 bln allocated for Bintulu Development Authority to implement 18 projects in Jepak

BINTULU, Nov 3: Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) was allocated RM1,089,178,744 to implement 18 federal and State projects under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) for the Jepak constituency.

BDA Board chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is also the Premier of Sarawak, was present to visit several project sites in Jepak here today.

According to a press release issued today, 12 out of 18 projects have been implemented since 2020.

To date, eight projects have been completed, namely the construction of a concrete drain at Kampung Kemuning, ‘Projek Kemudahan’ at Kampung Warisan, the proposed link road from Jalan Johari Sunam to New Jalan Kemena, the proposed link road from Jalan Johari Sunam to New Jalan Kemena (Phase 2), Kampung Kemunting multipurpose hall upgrade, Kampung Baru multipurpose hall upgrade, ‘Projek Kemudahan’ (drainage work scope) at Kampung Warisan, and concrete drain upgrade at Kampung Baru Sebuan Besar.

Meanwhile, four projects are under construction stage, namely Kampung Jelutong Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) involving 867 residential units, the construction of a temporary transit centre for the homeless in Bintulu or Bintulu Community Social Centre, Kampung Kemunting hall upgrade, and Kampung Baru hall upgrade.

The remaining six projects still in the planning stage are the Bintulu Urban Development Resettlement Area (Jepak) and Redevelopment Area involving 580 residential units, a flood mitigation project involving the construction of a monsoon drain from Kampung Warisan Jepak to Sungai Kemena, Bintulu Museum, as well as three phases of streetlight upgrading project in Jalan Kampung Jepak.

“These projects have been planned and implemented with a people-oriented approach and are expected to construct a more developed society, aligned with Sarawak government’s Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030,” the statement said. — DayakDaily
