Rivals resorting to smearing PBK’s missions due to worry over public support, says Voon

KUCHING, Dec 8: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) president Voon Lee Shan has slammed political rivals for using unethical tactics to smear its ‘Mission Passport’ or manifesto in an attempt to sway voters away from supporting the party.

He claimed that opponents have thrown all kinds of accusations with intention to defame and instill distrust over PBK, especially on its aim to introduce a special hardship relief fund in cash and kind of up to RM3,000 for those who voted in the elections if the party forms the next government.

“Due to the time constraints and restriction in election SOP (standard operating procedures), many Sarawakians do not have a copy of our Mission Passport which spells out clearly PBK’s mission.

“Hence our political rival took advantage of the situation and chance to smear the aims and missions in our Mission Passport,” he said in a statement today.

One of the missions in PBK’s Mission Passport or manifesto.

Voon believes that the party’s missions which have received good response on the ground must have given its rivals and their supporters many sleepless nights to the extent that they needed to use such tactics.

“They are trying hard to deny the reality on the ground especially among ordinary folks as the support from the public is great and the morale is high in the quest for independence,” he added.

PBK has fielded 73 candidates in the 12th Sarawak Election, the second largest number of candidates to up its chance in forming the next government, after Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in all 82 seats.

Voon, the former Batu Lintang assemblyman who has returned to run for the seat this election, emphasised that all the party’s professional candidates are financing their own election for the better future of Sarawak.

“They are up for the challenge and even the abusive words thrown at them squarely, in hope to jumpstart the change for a better tomorrow for Sarawak.

“PBK has illustrated with a noble mission, (and are) willing and capable and all candidates will be within reach,” he said.

He pointed out that it is time for Sarawakians to make wise choices to elect PBK’s Sarawak-centric candidates for a better future for Sarawak.

Voon will face four other candidates in Batu Lintang namely incumbent See Chee How of Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB), Sih Hua Tong of GPS, Cherishe Ng of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Leong Shaow Tung of Sarawak People’s Aspiration party (Aspirasi). — DayakDaily
