KUCHING, June 13: Rice dumplings are available all year round, so avoid large gatherings during the Dragon Boat Festival, says Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng.
While conveying his warm wishes to the general public for the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival on Monday (June 14), he also reminded everyone to stay vigilant as the Covid-19 pandemic has yet to end.
“Here I wish everyone a Happy Dragon Boat Festival, and if possible, please celebrate at your own homes at a small scale.
“Don’t gather several families together as this is a critical time now. Rice dumplings are available all year round and not only during the festival, but there are no second chances for human lives,” he said during his weekly Facebook live session yesterday (June 12).
Meanwhile, Wee also thanked many big-hearted sponsors and donors in Kuching who sent different contributions including food, drinking water and other necessities for the frontliners and volunteers working at the vaccination centres.
Those specially mentioned included Sinchew Daily, Tay Motors (M) Sdn Bhd, Red Bull, JCI Damai, Island’s Original Cafe, Tabuan Jaya Chamber of Commerce, Singapore Chicken Rice and Gingerbread House.
“I have been receiving many contributions since last week. Thank you very much for the love from all the sponsors and those who wish to stay anonymous,” he added. — DayakDaily
