SIBU, Dec 14: Ten units of a 12-door Rumah Julau longhouse on Jalan Teku-Pasai Siong here were destroyed in a fire that broke out this morning.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak said the Operation Centre received the emergency call at 10.52am and a team of eight firefighters from Bomba Sungai Merah and assisted by seven firefighters from Bomba Sibu were deployed to the location.
“Operation commander arriving at the scene confirmed that the fire incident had affected a total of 10-door of the longhouse.
“Firefighters however managed to save two doors of the longhouse after putting out the flames,” the statement revealed.
No casualties were reported and the situation was under control.— DayakDaily
