Rescuers successful in stopping woman from jumping off Darul Hana Bridge

KUCHING, April 17: Rescuers managed to persuade a woman from jumping into Sungai Sarawak from the Darul Hana Bridge today.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak operation centre in a statement, after receiving a call regarding the incident at 3.18pm, firefighters from Bomba Padungan were rushed to the location.

It said after arriving at the location, the operation commander reported that a 23-year-old woman was standing on a chair by the bridge’s barrier in an attempt to jump off the bridge.

It also said after about 20 minutes, firefighters managed to persuade and bring the victim to safety before she was handed over to the police for further action.

It added that no injuries were reported and the victim is in a stable condition. — DayakDaily
