KUCHING, Nov 29: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas today released 1,500 ‘Baong’ and 130 ‘Siakap’ fries into Sungai Paku to replenish the river’s resources.

Uggah, in a statement today, said Sungai Paku is known for its bountiful supplies of local species, notably the ‘Bulu’, ‘ Baong’, ‘Leko’ and others.

“These are the standard fares sold at the wet market in addition to other marine species,” he said.

As he had to return to Kuching for an urgent meeting, he was represented by political secretary to the chief minister Dr Richard Rapu.

Joining him were Agriculture Department Sarawak deputy director Ngap Dollah Salam, Betong divisional agriculture officer Petrus Kang, and Abang Suhordie Abang Zaini who is Bukit Saban Parti Pesaka Bumiputera (PBB) branch deputy chairman. — DayakDaily
