Repeat offender sentenced five years with one stroke of the rotan for drugs

KUCHING, Nov 2: A man with two previous convictions of consuming dangerous drugs has been brought up on the same charge today.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to imprisonment of five years with one stroke of the rotan and put on supervision for two years.


The accused, Zulkiplee Maan, 48, from Kampung Astana in his mitigation, pleaded for a more lenient sentence claiming that he had to take care of his parents who were suffering from diabetes and tuberculosis.

He was charged with administering Amphetamines and Methamphetamines on July 7, 2018 at about 1.08am at the office of Sarawak Narcotics Crime Investigation Department, state police headquarters. He had two previous convictions under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Today, he was found guilty under Section 39C(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and to be read together with Section 38B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — DayakDaily
