KUCHING, Mar 24: The move by the Sarawak government to provide special flights for its students studying in Sabah was lauded by Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.
Fazzruddin said the Sarawak government is very concerned about the needs of its students and had tried to facilitate the students to return to their respective campuses following the beginning of a new semester which will commence in April.
“Due to that, efforts have been made to liaise with airline operators to provide special flights to meet the needs of the students,” he said in a statement today.
He said this in response to the announcement by the Sarawak Transport Ministry which had requested for flights from Kuching to Kota Kinabalu and Miri to Kota Kinabalu to allow Sarawak students to return to their campuses to resume their studies.
Meanwhile, Fazzrudin who is also Sarawak Volunteers (SV) advisor said the state government is also concerned about the welfare of students returning from outside to their campuses in Sarawak.
The Sarawak government according to Fazzrudin, facilitated these students by removing the requirement to undergo the Covid-19 screening test three days before travelling to Sarawak while retaining the mandatory 14-day quarantine.
Such measures will alleviate the burden of the financially-strapped students from Peninsular, Sabah and Labuan as paying for the Covid-19 swab test could be costly.
Fazzrudin however, pointed out that the students still need to fill in the information through EnterSarawak online by uploading the required supporting documents.
“This is what the state government is doing for Sarawakian students as well as the students studying in the state,” he said. -DayakDaily
