KUCHING, Jan 5: Satok assemblyman Dato Ibrahim Baki has expressed his commitment to improve the drainage and road safety of the commercial centre near Rubber Road and Nanas Road.

He said the improvement work is important for the beautification purpose of the area as well as to avoid any untoward incidents.

Earlier, Ibrahim visited the drain upgrading project near Rubber Road where the project progress was affected due to technical issues, leading to the stagnation of water flow in the project site.

He urged the implementing agency, Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) and the appointed contractor to resolve the issues to ensure its timely completion.

Apart from the drainage project at Rubber Road, acting on public complaints, Ibrahim also visited Lorong Nanas 2 to inspect the problematic drainage near the parking lot.

He urged DBKU to rectify the issue by upgrading the parking dividers to improve safety for motorists.

At the same time, the Satok assemblyman thanked DBKU for installing traffic poles near a shop lot along Rubber Road as well as repainting the nearby road dividers.

“Previously, there was a complaint by a shop owner about the occurrence of accidents near the junction in front of his shop.

“He informed me that DBKU had acted promptly to install the traffic divider poles and repainted the road dividers. This has improved road safety in the area and hopefully will help prevent similar incidents in the future,” he said.

Also present during the site visit were DBKU director Mohamed Khaidir Abang, DBKU deputy director Mohamad Faisal Adenan and DBKU infrastructure maintenance division head Zaidi Pathi. — DayakDaily
