Religious, entertainment and social activities not allowed during CMCO

An updated list of activities not allowed during CMCO.

KUCHING, Jan 12: All forms of religious activities in houses of worships are not allowed during Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) to be enforced starting midnight tonight (12.01am) until Jan 26.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in the latest standard operating procedure (SOP), however stated that mosques and surau are allowed to sound the call for prayers and observe five prayers time as well as Friday prayers with the number of congregations determined by the State religious authorities.

Management and staff at non-Muslim places of worship as well as festive celebrations are subjected to the SOP issued by Unit for Other Religions (Unifor).


Entertainment and social activities in night clubs or pubs, theme parks, karaoke, indoor playgrounds and cinemas are not allowed.

Taking vacations at non-EMCO areas, travelling outside the State and domestic travel that would involve foreigners entering Malaysia are prohibited.

Any activities that would encourage mass gathering of people in a place to the extend that physical distancing cannot be observed are not allowed.

The operation and usage of sports facilities by members of the public is also limited and subjected to compliance with SOP for sports and recreations.

SDMC added that other matters related to the SOP will be updated by the government from time to time. — DayakDaily
