KUCHING, May 25: Registration for the AstraZeneca (AZ) Covid-19 vaccine voluntary vaccination will be opened to those below the age of 60 starting 12 noon tomorrow (May 26).

Coordinating Minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, Khairy Jamaluddin, said this opportunity is offered to those residing in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Pulau Pinang, Johor and Sarawak (Kuching and Miri) only.

“I wish to inform that since we have allocated about 228,000 slots of the second phase AZ vaccination for senior citizens and several days allocated for them (to register), the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) has decided that the registration will be opened to the general public below the age of 60 beginning 12 noon tomorrow.

“We are still giving the registration priority to the senior citizens today and tomorrow, and we will continue to prioritise them in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) via appointments at the PPVs (vaccination centres),” he said at a virtual press conference held via Zoom today.

So far, 228,347 individuals have registered for the second phase of AZ vaccination involving four new PPVs namely, Persada Johor International Convention Centre in Johor; Spice Arena Convention Centre in Bayan Baru, Pulau Pinang; Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) in Kuching and Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) in Miri.

“Individuals who are on the waiting list of the first phase of AZ vaccination will be automatically included in the second phase,” Khairy added.

Also present during the press conference was Health Minister Dato Sri Dr Adham Baba. — DayakDaily
