KUCHING, April 20: Three main events will be included in conjunction with the Regional Level Gawai Dayak 2023 celebrations in Sarawak.
According to the news report by Sarawak Public Communications Units (UKAS), Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas revealed that the first main event would be the Gawai Bazaar, set to be held from June 16 to June 25 in the vicinity of the Kuching City South Council MBKS) Community Hall.
“The second event would be the ‘Niti Daun’ Gawak Dayak 2023 procession to be held on June 17 and the Sarawak Regional Level Gawai Dinner Celebration 2023 on June 24,” he said.
Uggah revealed this when chairing the main committee meeting on the regional-level celebrations held at a local hotel here today.
Uggah also stressed that Sarawak had been celebrating the Gawai Dayak event for the region since 1988, and that the tradition should continue.
He also pointed out that the Sarawak Gawai Dayak celebration would continue to be further enhanced with additional events to make it more relevant.
“I am confident that the celebration will go smoothly as with previous years.
“In fact, organising this event is all about voluntary work where the secretariat gives all their energy and time to make this event a success,” he said.
Uggah later presented a cheque amounting to RM1 million from the Sarawak government to the organising committee.
Also present at the meeting were the Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department and Sarawak Regional Level Gawai Dayak Celebration Work Committee chairman 2023 Datuk John Sikie Tayai. — DayakDaily
