‘Regardless of race and religion, lets celebrate Gong Xi Fa Cai’ — Sarawak TYT

KUCHING, Feb 10: Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar has called on all citizens of different races and religions in the State to celebrate Chinese New Year (CNY) together.

He was met by the media prior to his departure from gracing the Sarawak Government’s 2024 CNY Open House at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today.


As he was exiting the venue with his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, he showed a fist-and-palm gesture to the media before making the remark.

“I invite all Sarawak citizens, regardless of different races and religions, to celebrate Gong Xi Fa Cai,” he said.

This is the first time the State Government has organised the CNY Open House, which is expected to welcome a minimum presence of 5,000 people.

Also present were the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, and his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang.

Other notable guests include Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof; Sarawak Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian; Federal Minister of Works Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi; Federal Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Dato Sri Nancy Shukri; Federal Minister of National Unity Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang; former Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam and Sarawak Cabinet Ministers. — DayakDaily
