KUCHING, Feb 10: Independent Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How will not join any political party until the current Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) dissolves.

During the Sarawak Government’s 2024 Chinese New Year (CNY) Open House at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here today, a reporter asked See to comment on the speculation that he will join Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), a component party under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

“I can’t join anybody now until the current DUN dissolves.

“After that, we will see—it’s still a long time,” he said.

He further said that as an independent DUN member, he is open to working with parties.

“I work with anybody, so now my constituency has a lot of programmes. The State government is coming in to support some of the programmes, and I’m very grateful about this.

“This is a good indicator. We all have the same target: to serve the people as best as we can,” he added.

Asked whether he would defend his seat in the following State election, he simply said: “Hopefully, I don’t know.”

See first won the N11 Batu Lintang seat in the 2016 State Election under the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) ticket.

After he was sacked from PKR in mid-April 2020, having been alleged to have supported the camp belonging to former party deputy president Dato Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, See joined Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).

On Aug 14, 2022, See resigned from PSB and became an independent assemblyman.

Since then, there have been speculations that See may join GPS through its component party SUPP. — DayakDaily
