KUCHING, Oct 28: The celebration of Sunday worship and other services in  Anglican churches here will be suspended temporarily with immediate effect.

The Anglican Bishop of Kuching Rev Datuk Danald Jute in a notice to churches today said all celebrations including the All Souls’ Day services on Nov 2 have been suspended,  following the declaration of Kuching as a Covid-19 red zone.

He pointed out that visits to the Batu Kitang Catholic cemetery are also discouraged as it is located adjacent to Kg Haji Baki which has been placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

However, the prelate said online services through live streaming will be continued with a small church crew.

He also said that church weddings that have been planned may proceed with not more than 20 persons within the strict conduct of the standard operating procedures.
