MIRI, Oct 2: Open spaces in residential areas under Senadin constituency will be transformed into mini parks and recreational facilities to promote healthy living among the communities in the area.
According to Minister of Transport Sarawak Datuk Lee Kim Shin, to date, a total of 13 projects under his Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for this year have been built and are currently being built in Riam, Permyjaya, Vista Perdana, Desa Senadin and Tudan with a total cost of RM1.15 million.
Out of the 13, four were projects carried forward from last year.
“Perhaps, in the future we can make it compulsory for housing developers to build recreational parks in residential areas that they are about to develop,” he opined on Saturday at the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Senadin office.
He added that housing developers should plan and include mini parks or recreational parks in their housing projects in the future.
This morning, Lee was supposed to visit the construction of a basketball court in Vista Perdana housing area, however due to heavy rain, the programme was cancelled.
The construction of the basketball court costing RM100,000 is expected to be completed by year end.
Lee added that a mini park with jogging track would also be built at the housing area (Vista Perdana) next year. — DayakDaily
