KUCHING, March 31: What was supposed to be a day filled with merriment turned into a nightmare for a family celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri at Kampung Goebilt here as the floor of their house collapsed, injuring four of the ten people who were in it.
According to a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), an emergency call was received at 11.10am today, and firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya station were deployed.
“Upon arrival at the location, it was found that the floor of the living room of the non-permanent stilt house had collapsed,” said the report.
The four victims—two 20-year-old men and two girls, ages 17 and 11—were brought to the hospital by the public before Bomba’s arrival.
One victim sustained a broken leg and is currently in a ward, another is still unconscious due to head injuries, and two are still being examined.
After examining the house’s structure, Bomba deemed it to still be safe before heading back to the station. — DayakDaily
