KUCHING, Nov 24: Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang expressed gratitude to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for establishing a new development agency, Rascom Development Agency (Rasda), with a budget of RM1.5 billion.

Gira stated this today during his debate on Supply (2023) Bill, 2022, which was tabled by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on Monday (Nov 21) at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here.

ā€œI would like to thank YAB Premier for announcing and approving the establishment of a new development agency, Rascom Development Agency or Rasda, during a gathering in Ngungun on November 17, 2022.

ā€œRasda will cover constituencies namely Machan, Ngemah, Tamin, and Kakus.

ā€œThis is a reflection of the State governmentā€™s inclusiveness in ensuring greater urban-rural economic integration, expected for better coordination and more effective project implementation,ā€ he said.

He went on to say that the agency would accelerate development within the relevant areas.

He also stated his full support for the Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund Board Bill, 2022, which would provide long-term resources for investment, and the income from the fund could be used to support the social, environmental, and economic development of Sarawak and its future generations.

ā€œIt is projected that our Sarawak government is targeting savings of RM 8 billion for the first year, RM 14 billion after seven years, RM 27 billion after 14 years, and RM52 billion after 20 years. These savings will benefit our future generations,ā€ Gira added. ā€” DayakDaily
