Rainforest World Music Festival 2024: 400 enforcers deployed, drone restrictions in place

KUCHING, June 27: Over 400 enforcement officers have been deployed to ensure the safety and security of the upcoming Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2024, which is set to take place at Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) in Santubong from June 28 to 30, with an expected daily crowd of over 10,000 attendees.

Kuching District Police Chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah warned that flying and operating drones around the festival grounds are not allowed without approval or permits.

“Any individuals found flying drones without permission and authorisation from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) is committing an offense under the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016,” he said in a statement today.

With the festival anticipating a crowd exceeding 10,000 people daily, the police have deployed 32 officers, 277 police officers, 20 People’s Voluntary Corps (Rela) personnel, 74 security guards and 20 officers from the Security and Enforcement Unit Sarawak (UPKS) to the festival grounds.

Festival goers are advised to not park their vehicles along the road shoulder to the extend of obstructing traffic flow.
“We seek the collaboration of the visitors to adhere to the instruction by the officers on duty and park their vehicles in designated carparks.

“To prevent traffic congestion, the public is also advised to opt for the shuttle bus or van provided by the organiser from the city to the festival grounds,” he added.

Ahsmon also called for cooperation with the police and adherence to all laws and any instructions issued to prevent any incidents that could disrupt public order.

It is learnt that protocols and security measures for the upcoming international festival have been tightened due to the expected presence of Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah. Additionally, foreign ambassadors are also expected to attend the festival.

Meanwhile, the shuttle bus service (different from van shuttle service) is free for all ticket holders with pickup points at Plaza Merdeka and Riverside Majestic Hotel to SCV. For those without tickets, it is RM12 one way to take the shuttle bus.

There are also shuttle van loop service between Santubong Resort t-junction to SCV operating between 10am to 1am with tickets priced at RM8 per way for adult and RM4 per way for children. — DayakDaily
