KUCHING, Aug 4: In a moment that held fans spellbound, K-pop sensation Rain made a grand entrance at the historical Old Courthouse, showering the capital city of Sarawak with compliments as he declared that Kuching was “like heaven” and confessed his love for Sarawak Laksa .
Despite the blazing hot sun, ardent fans congregated at the Old Courthouse, central to the Asean International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) Sarawak 2023 Celebrity Star Meet and Greet.
This convergence of dedicated fans gave rise to an atmosphere of sheer exhilaration, as the anticipation of getting a glimpse of Rain, famed for his chart-topping melodies and iconic ‘Rainism’ album as well as captivating stage theatrics, hung in the air.
Hundreds of fans, some armed with umbrellas, hats, and bottles of water, endured hours under the heat eagerly awaited the appearance of their beloved K-pop star.
The Old Courthouse square, usually a serene location, was abuzz with excitement as fans erupted into deafening cheers, waving their fan-made signs and banners, and dancing to the beat of Rain’s music played over loudspeakers.
The moment Rain stepped onto the lawn, the crowd erupted in deafening cheers and screams of joy that echoed through the square.
With a charming smile, he exclaimed, “This is my first time in Kuching. Kuching is like heaven with many delicious foods. It is a beautiful city.”
His words resonated deeply with the crowd, who eagerly embraced his compliments.
Adding to the excitement, Rain shared a personal tidbit that endeared him even more to the local population. When asked about his favourite Sarawakian food, he did not hesitate to declare his love for laksa.
“My favourite Sarawak food is laksa which I had last night and some dim sum,” he revealed, much to the delight of the attendees.
Rain’s sentiment further reverberated as he uttered a few words in Malay, engaging the crowd with a heartfelt “Apa khabar (how are you). Saya sayang kamu (I love you).”
Before bidding adieu, Rain shared a final piece of advice, encouraging Sarawakians, especially his fans, to give their all in all their endeavours, whether it is in the realm of filmmaking or acting.
The artiste’s genuine appreciation for his fans and supporters shone through as he made a point to greet his fans up close while presenting them with some gifts, signing autographs and posing for photos, making the experience even more meaningful for those in attendance. — DayakDaily
