MIRI, Aug 25: A man ran amok on Saturday afternoon over an ice cream and ended in a police lock-up.

A Miri Criminal Investigation Deparment (CID) team led by Inspector Saiful Azizi Kamlun arrested the 30-year-old suspect and seized a 61cm-long machete in his possession which was believed to have been used in the incident.

The incident occurred around 12pm at a house in Pujut 5 here, after the suspect’s father told him that an ice cream the suspect had asked him to fetch from their freezer earlier was no more.

Angry with the response, the suspect got up and took a machete and ran outside of the house to turn his ire onto his father’s car.

He deliberately and repeatedly smashed the car window on the driver’s side.

Terrified, the victim and his wife immediately ran out from the house and sought help from nearby neighbours.

A police report was lodged on the incident.

Subsequently, the police picked up the suspect at 4.49pm that same day and seized the machete. — DayakDaily
