KUCHING, Oct 28: Two dog bite cases were reported this week, one involving a pet dog at Stapok Utama and another a stray dog at Pending Heights.
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) Sarawak has confirmed both dogs to be rabies positive.
“I want to reiterate my advice for the public to remain vigilant and that teams from the council are actively going around to monitor the situation,” he said during his ShallWeeTalk online session today.
Wee informed that another anti-rabies vaccination campaign, including microchipping and licensing registration services, has been scheduled for Nov 11.
“The venue will be confirmed by next week, and we will announce this in due time.
“Initially, the authority suggested Song Swee Guan Park, but due to space limitations, we are considering moving it back to the MBKS Community Hall compound,” he explained.
As the MBKS Community Hall has a large parking compound, Wee said it will better facilitate the drive-through services for the convenience of the public.
He called on the pet owners to prepare and bring their pet dogs for their vaccination if they have not already done so. — DayakDaily
