KUCHING, Sept 9: Creative Malaysians residing in Sarawak are invited to participate in the Rabies Awareness Campaign Digital Poster Competition, themed ‘Rabies: Fact, not Fear’.

The competition, which is held in conjunction with World Rabies Day 2021, is organised by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) in collaboration with Department of Veterinary Service Sarawak (DVSS), together with Ministry of Local Government and Housing and State Health Department.

Those interested can register their participation starting tomorrow (Sept 10), while the deadline for artwork submission is Sept 24.


The competition is divided into two categories, namely Category 1; for individuals aged 12 to 18-years-old, where a RM2,000 cash prize awaits the first place winner, followed by RM1,000 for second place, and RM500 for third place.

For Category 2, it is open to individuals aged 19 and above, with RM3,000 to be awarded to the first place winner, RM2,500 for second place, and RM2,000 for third place.

Participants can produce their digital poster freely according to their creativity using any appropriate software or applications such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, with the theme ‘Rabies: Facts, Not Fear’. 

The main message that should be conveyed through the digital poster should involve information in creating public awareness about the danger of rabies, and it must be either in Bahasa Melayu or English language, without any usage of informal language consisting of words and phrases (slang), and poster must be at least 2MB in size, either in JPEG, PDF or PNG format.

Participants must also ensure that their art respects the multi-cultural society in Sarawak, and the jury reserves the right to dismiss any artwork that is provocative, political, or touching on race or religious sensitivity.

The artwork produced for the competition should be based on the predetermined theme, must be the original work of the participant and never been published.

Participants can submit unlimited entries for the competition, and the works must be sent to the secretariat, together with their participation form to ukasposterdigitalrabies21@gmail.com.
