KUCHING, Sept 25: Sarawak achieved a clean sweep in the Women’s discus throw at the Borneo Games at Sarawak Stadium, Petra Jaya today, with national record holder Queenie Ting Kung Ni leading the charge to claim gold with a throw of 49.77m.
Fatin Shazlina Jonnie secured silver with 32.80m while Ng Jing Jun took bronze with 30.00m, sealing Sarawak’s dominance on the podium.
Queenie, who set the national record of 52.77m in Kuala Lumpur in 2023, said she was pleased with her performance despite narrowly missing her personal target.
“My performance today was quite satisfying because my target was 50 metres but I threw 49.77m, just a little short of the target,” she said in an interview recording shared with DayakDaily after the event.

She added that the Borneo Games has been an excellent tune-up as she gears up for the SEA Games in Thailand this December.
“This Borneo Games is very good preparation for me for the SEA Games this December,” she said, noting her ambition to better her own national record and bring home a medal.
Looking further ahead, Queenie said she is working towards qualifying for the 2028 Olympics but for now, her main focus remains on the regional stage.
“For now, my main objective is to do my best in the SEA Games this December. Hopefully, I can break the national record again at the SEA Games and win a medal,” she added. — DayakDaily
