KUCHING, May 9: Close contact individuals, including those who have undergone the Covid-19 treatments and quarantine times due to the pandemic as instructed by the Ministry of Health (MoH) will be given RM100 per day, for the 14-day quarantine period, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
According to Ismail Sabri, the monetary assistance is provided by the Covid-19 funds that were launched by the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on March 20, 2020 until May 7, 2020, to help Malaysians affected by the outbreak.
“The assistance is only applicable to Malaysian citizens, for those who are working but lost their source of income, or those who are not being paid for their salary, due to the 14-day quarantine period instructed by the Ministry of Health (MoH).
“This includes those who are working but lost their source of income after undergone their quarantine period in hospital wards due to Covid-19,” said Ismail Sabri in his daily media briefing held in Putrajaya, today.
He added that the special assistance was not applicable for those staying at home during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period implementation.
At the same time, Ismail Sabri also stated that the special assistance has benefited 94 individuals, with a total of RM127,500 given out.
Apart from that, he said, the ‘Ihsan Kematian’ special assistance was given to 71 beneficiaries with a total amount of RM355,000.
“A total of RM25,229,105.44 was also channelled to the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, through the National Welfare Foundation, to help Malaysian who are in need.
“This is the expenditure status of the Covid-19 fund that was created by the government,” he said. —DayakDaily.
