KUCHING, May 31: Sarawak must push for education autonomy aggressively for the good of its younger generation, said Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB) information chief William Mangor.
“Education autonomy is important to us. We can then decide and plan our own syllabus and grading system. We may follow or emulate the Singapore education module as it has the best education system in the world,” he said in a statement today.
William pointed out that the Malaysian education system is in a mess and students are treated as “lab rats” because every time a new education minister is appointed, the modules would also change.
Due to this, he opined that a lot of money was wasted, teachers became more restless and students became confused and lose interest in studying.
William also reminded the state government to continue talking with Putrajaya on the devolution of powers. — DayakDaily
