KUCHING, March 5: The Education Ministry (MoE) has been called to include the formation of Malaysia and the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) into the country’s history textbooks so that future generations know of the rights of Sarawak and Sabah.

Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin, when debating the king’s speech in the Dewan Rakyat in Kuala Lumpur yesterday (March 4), also called for the inclusion of the history and struggles of the Dayak Trackers, Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) personnel from Sarawak and Sabah, and the Sarawak Rangers into the textbooks so that Malaysians are aware that Sarawakians and Sabahans also fought to defend the sovereignty of the country.

Additionally, he also suggested that the Ministry of National Unity prepare a special section in every museum nationwide to display the history of how Malaysia came to be, complemented by explanations of the MA63.

“There should not be parties who try to erase our (Sarawakians and Sabahans’) contributions to the country’s history, as well as delay the implementation of MA63,” he said in his debate speech. — DayakDaily
