KUCHING, Aug 7: “I never fought Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) because it was basically very new (coalition),” said Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin.

According to Willie, although he stood against Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Puncak Borneo parliamentary seat in the past, he has no quarrel with GPS.

“That is something that we must understand,” he told reporters when met the ‘Jelajah Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia’ event in Dataran Perayaan Petra Jaya, today.

Willie was asked to comment by reporters regarding his acceptance into Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) as a member as announced by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, yesterday.

Meanwhile Willie expressed his gratitude to Abang Johari, who is also the PBB president for accepting his application to join the party.

He gave his assurance that he will do his best to work together with other members in Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

“Honestly I feel very grateful, and I would like to thank the Premier and all the party leadership of PBB and also GPS. Thank you very much to them for accepting my membership,” he said.

Meanwhile, when asked by reporters if there has been a discussion to renominate him to defend the Puncak Borneo seat in the coming 15th General Election (PRU15), Willie said he is leaving the matter to the Premier to decide.

“We just have to work hard to serve the people and then if the people believe that we can continue, that is up to the wisdom of the Premier and party leadership,” he added. — DayakDaily
