Puncak Borneo MP being courted by ‘several political parties’

Datuk Willie Mongin

KUCHING, May 6: Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin says he is being courted by several political parties, but has yet to make up his mind on which political party he will join.

Without disclosing the political parties, he said at the moment his status remains unchanged as an independent.

“At the moment, I still remain as status quo, haven’t decided which political party I will join, although several political parties have approached me.

“I will wait until the Covid-19 (outbreak) is over and after that I will sit down to decide which political platform I will join,” he said.

Willie, who is Second Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, had earlier visited a pepper garden owned by a smallholder from Kampung Emperoh Jambu along Jalan Padawan.

Willie, a former Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Mambong branch chairman, won the Puncak Borneo seat in the last general election under a PKR ticket.

He left the party recently to support Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who eventually become Prime Minister. — DayakDaily
