MIRI, Jan 15: Pujut assemblyman Dr Ting Tiong Choon today urged DCL-HCM Sdn Bhd to quickly cut the grass along federal roads here as it has become an eyesore to both residents and tourists.

“This is especially true for the federal protocol road between Miri Airport and the city centre,” said Ting in a press statement today.

“According to the contract, the grass along this section of the road should be well maintained twice monthly.”

He lamented that the first half of January had passed, but the grass had yet to be cut.

Ting said from his messages to the contractor (DCL-HCM Sdn Bhd), they did mention something about the need to enhance their manpower.

“I hope they have adequate manpower and resources to fulfil all the terms of the contract,” he said.

Federal road maintenance is the responsibility of the federal government. In Miri, the 79km of federal road cost RM2.55 million annually for basic road maintenance, he said.

“I would like to see the contractor do the required work as scheduled. As long as the maintenance is done regularly as stipulated, Miri residents shall be satisfied and the daily call for help shall be minimised,” said Dr Ting.
