KUCHING, July 14: The Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) has highlighted do’s and don’ts for Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) 2022, as it anticipates traffic and cleanliness issues tomorrow when food and accessory sales kick off.
According to SMC’s press statement, due to the overwhelming response for the food street and Sales and Exhibition Expo (Tradex) Sibu, the management of the Council has decided that the canopies of the Melayu/Melanau, Dayak, and Chinese pavilions will be open to the public starting tomorrow.
“However, our night programmes will only begin on July 18, 2022,” SMC pointed out.
The council advised the public not to throw rubbish or waste indiscriminately, particularly in the event area, because the SMC’s enforcement team will be present at all times and will not hesitate to issue compounds for non-compliance.
Extra bins will be placed in the area for the convenience of the public.
“Kindly be informed that the Jalan Bujang Suntong, Phase 1 area will be closed starting tomorrow, every day from 6pm to 11pm until July 23, 2022, and any double parking will be compounded by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM),” the press statement read.
Meanwhile, SMC also expressed gratitude to all those who had contributed over the previous few days.
“Please inform your friends and relatives to be at the event tomorrow and to enjoy together.
“Let’s make sure that this BCF is a clean and safe programme for everyone,” the council added. — DayakDaily
