Indonesian Consul General pays courtesy call on Fatimah, discusses collaboration between Indonesia and Sarawak

KUCHING, July 14: Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuching Raden Sigit Witjaksono paid a courtesy visit to Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK) Sarawak Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah to discuss collaboration in various matters between Indonesia and Sarawak.

Fatimah said among the topics concerning collaboration discussed were education matters, stateless children and Sarawak’s pre-school international convention 2022.

According to Fatimah, her ministry will collaborate with the consulate to help plantation companies in the State to register Community Learning Centres (CLCs), which are meant for children of Indonesian workers working on plantations.


“Apart from that, we also discussed the stateless children issue. We will work together with the consulate to address this matter too,” she told reporters after the courtesy call at her office in Petra Jaya here today.

She noted, other collaborations discussed involved drug issues along the Sarawak-Indonesia border.

Fatimah also provided details about the Sarawak Preschool International Convention 2022 which will be held from Aug 28 until 28 in Miri.

“The main objective of the convention is to share views and best practices between various countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong and India, as well as to enhance educators’ knowledge, understanding, and skills on the challenges of early childhood care and education especially in the new norm,” she said. — DayakDaily
