Public invited to visit ‘Jeraya Sahabat Astronomi’ roadshow at Vivacity Megamall from Nov 19-21

KUCHING, Nov 18: Members of the public, especially students can learn more about astronomy and the universe through the ‘Jerayawara Sahabat Astronomi’ programme organised by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research (MESTR) and the Sultan Iskandar Planetarium here at Vivacity Megamall from tomorrow (Nov 19) until Nov 21.

The Sultan Iskandar Planetarium in a statement today said the main attraction of the programme is a mini planetarium whereby visitors can experience space and the universe through a simulation of the night sky, with planets, moons and constellations projected digitally.

Visitors can also watch a digital astronomy show which was produced by an international team.

Besides that, there are hands-on activities where students can learn to draw stars and how to operate the planetarium software.

There will also be quiz about astronomy and science exhibition.

The Sultan Iskandar Planetarium revealed that the Jerayawara Sahabat Astronomi programme was just held in schools.

It added that the programme will also be held in Sri Aman, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri from November to December 2021.

The unit said the organiser will emphasise the standard operating procedures (SOP) for the prevention of Covid-19 to be adhered to during the duration of the programme.
