KUCHING, Aug 27: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) is looking to contest up to 10 seats in the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15).
Speaking at a press conference after the party’s third triennial delegates conference (TDC) today, its president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, said, “We will not contest in too many seats, maybe 10 or less out of 31.”
“Right now, we will focus on seats we are sure of and winnable for PSB. We also want to conserve our resources for that matter.”
Wong added that the party’s immediate challenge right now is to prepare for the general election, which he said no one knows when it will be as it can be held anytime.
As for Selangau’s incumbent, who is currently being helmed by the party’s secretary-general Baru Bian, Wong said he may defend the seat or move to another place.
“We don’t know yet. We will assess and decide where Baru will contest,” he said.
Meanwhile, Wong returned unopposed as the party’s president at the TDC, which elected the new Central Committee Members lineup for 2022 to 2024.
The others are four senior vice presidents; Datuk Janet Lau, Dato Ranum Mina, Dr Rabaah Tudin and Ali Adap; while the seven vice presidents are Dato David Lau, Datuk Lawrence Lai, Kong Tze Ling, Elly Lawai Ngalai, Norina Umoi Utot, Andrew Shilling Banggit and Yakup Khalid. — DayakDaily
